‘Almost Famous’ (2000)

The Sound of Metal by Darius Marder, starring Riz Ahmed as a metal drummer, exposes the musician’s struggle with his hearing progressively declining after turning to art in the last four years to keep his inner demons at bay.

The Sound of Metal is a unique film that is both thought-provoking and emotionally impactful. Although it doesn’t focus as much on the movie industry as it does on the protagonist’s inner battle, it’s nevertheless a riveting and fascinating watch with an exceptional acting performance by Ahmed.

Following a star’s journey from the ashes of a great national catastrophe she experienced as a youngster to the top charts of the pop music industry, Natalie Portman’s Neon’s Vox Lux explores the singer’s attempt to deal with problems that threaten her career.
