Taylor Swift Cries During Poignant Concert Performance

The love between Taylor Swift and her fans is unmistakable, and during a recent concert, the Swifties unwittingly made the singer weep.

Swift was overcome with emotion during the evermore performance of the second night of the Eras Tour in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, April 29.

During “Marjorie,” the bulk of the audience took out their cell phones and lit up their flashlights throughout the duration of the emotive track.

The song, which appears on Swift’s ninth studio album, incorporates vocals from Swift’s late grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, who shared Swift’s hopes of becoming a great artist but died in 2003 before she could witness Swift’s influence firsthand.

Swift sings, “And if I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were talking to me right now.” If I didn’t know any better, I’d believe you were still alive.” In the background, you can hear Marjorie’s operatic voice.

We can’t imagine how difficult the songs must have been to sing during an uninteresting concert, but suddenly the Mercedes-Benz Stadium lights up all around her, as shown in a TikTok video submitted by swiftie Alyssa Rissman, the “Anti-Hero” singer is obviously surprised, her eyes filling up with tears.

Swift pulls a second take as she approaches to the keyboard for “champagne problems,” wiping her eyes as the stage lights dim for a brief minute.

“Oh,” she says into the mic as she takes a seat at the piano. After that, she seemed to be at a loss for words, gently chuckling into the microphone until ultimately saying, in a watery voice, “How are you going to go and do that to me on a song about my grandmother who passed away?” I just completely—like, my knees got weak, like–I physically felt them. That was really thoughtful of you.”
