Justin Bieber Wearing One of the Most Playful Rolexes Ever

Justin Bieber added a vintage yellow gold Rolex Day-Date with a money-green “Stella” dial to his eccentric accessory collection this week, a rare and collectible watch that hits the right Bieber-esque balance between weird and sophisticated. The Stella was debuted in the 1970s as part of a series of colorful lacquered dial alternatives for the 36mm Day-Date, but it appears to have been ahead of its time, as with many creative concepts. Despite the popularity of colorful pieces from brands like Piaget and Cartier at the time, it appears that Rolex customers were not yet ready for the Stella’s exuberance, and many Stella dials were later replaced with more traditional ones in white, black, and silver over the years.
